We are a student organization at LSU that is focused on enriching the graduate experience of students interested in marine and environmental issues at Louisiana State University. Our organization is primarily made up of graduate students from LSU's College of the Coast & Environment (CC&E), which contains both the Department of Environmental Studies (ENVS) and the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences (DOCS).

CEGO was formed during the Spring of 2010, by combining the then SC&E's two existing graduate organizations: the Environmental Graduate Organization (EGO) from the Department of Environmental Studies, and the Marine Environmental Researchers (MER) from the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences.

Notice Board

March 11, 2020

As of right now, all international travels are considered high risk. It doesn’t matter where they are going. LSU can’t stop you from personal trips, but if you’re going on a trip on behalf of LSU and/or using LSU’s funding for the trip, you need to fill out the SA with 2 additional attachments, see the attachments. The SA MUST be approved by the provost’s office PRIOR to the trip. If you have an approved SA already without this approval, you’ll need to resubmit it again. Any trips without the SA approved prior to going, you are fully responsible for all funding.

International travel of any kind is not recommended, and university-related travel must go through the university’s High-Risk Travel process. Travel to countries with a Level 3 or 4 designation will be denied, and travel to countries with a Level 1 or 2 designation will be seriously examined before a decision is made. While the university cannot control your personal travel, please know that international travel of any kind is not advisable, and that you may be required to self-quarantine when you return from that travel, depending on what country you have visited.
